Bolsonaro has been taken into custody after authorities found he posed a concrete flight risk while under house arrest.

The former head of state was found guilty of plotting a government overthrow in September and sentenced more than over two decades in prison, but he continued under house arrest pending court reviews.

Top Judicial Official Justice Moraes said the action to imprison the septuagenarian politician was a safety action after fresh information emerged.

This involved seeking to disable his electronic bracelet and a call for a demonstration that could enable a possible escape.

Judicial Records Show Escape Concerns

In a paperwork permitting the custody, the judge said data from the centre monitoring the former president's confinement suggested the former leader's "intention to break the tracking monitor to secure accomplishment in his escape.

This, it said, would be assisted by the disorder caused by the protest called by his offspring.

His son, his son Flávio, who serves as a legislator, called for a meeting of his followers near Bolsonaro's home to take place on the weekend.
