The star has given the full amount of his twenty-five thousand pound honor winnings to the trust for venues, which functions to protect the Britain's small concert spaces.

Fender was presented with the cheque on mid-October as his new release his work was chosen as the best record of the previous year.

The musician has decided to donate the funds to the Music Venues Trust, in recognition of the vital role local spots fulfilled in his early career.

"I personally would not have achieved my current career if it wasn't for all the performances I performed around the area, and beyond, when I was just getting going," stated Fender. "These venues are renowned, but they are struggling."

From early 2023 onward, over 150 of these locations have shut down – approximately 16 percent of the total UK scene.

In the last year, top acts including Pulp, Coldplay, the singer Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all aided the trust in its initiatives to help venues survive, by applying a minor surcharge to their ticket prices, which supports independent venues.

Fender also participated, raising over £100k on his recent tour to help numerous grassroots venues across England, Scotland, and Wales.

The money supported venues that were facing imminent closure due to difficulties arising from water damage, fire incidents and family tragedies, as well as licensing issues, legal disputes and neighbor objections.

Some locations received funding support in modernizing amenities and technical equipment that positively impacted artists and fans.

"The notion that funds from shows in large arenas backs the independent spots, where it begins for artists like me, is just common sense," the star has stated.

Fender is far from the only musician to give his award winnings to worthy causes.

When Pulp earned the trophy in the mid-90s for their record Different Class, vocalist Jarvis Cocker stated that the band would give their winnings to the organization War Child.

During 2002, rapper and singer Ms Dynamite split her award between several charities, like the NSPCC and a Sickle Cell charity.

"And I donated a grand to my local community centre, to their gymnastics program, because I did gymnastics when I was growing up and they required new equipment," the artist explained to a publication.

Two years ago, they donated their prize money to the community center that nurtured their band, in addition to other grassroots music organisations.

And 1994 winners they donated their winnings to a charity for MS after a acquaintance was found to have the illness.

"Receiving the award was ample," said artist Small. "The cash was the bonus but we didn't require the bonus, because we had the cake. So our winning touched the lives of others."

In the past week, the Music Venues Trust shared it had rescued several small stages in that region, by transferring them to local control.

The Joiners in that area and the second in that location were purchased under the community ownership initiative, which is backed by the arts council and supporters who purchase "shares" in the venues.
